Swillington Ings

Took advantage of an offer from DP to have a try for the 5 Grebe species at Swillington this am. We failed on that score but still had a productive session which delivered a couple of annuals apiece.

Water Rail, c42 Pink-footed Goose, 6 Bearded Tit, 2 Whinchat, 2 Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, Peregrine, 3 Reed Bunting.
Wildfowl: several Shoveler, Teal, Wigeon, Gadwall, Mallard, many Tufted, few Pochard, less so Pintail. Numerous BH Gulls, several Common, 2 LBB.
Waders were down to a couple of Snipe, c20 Curlew & c140 Lapwing.

Oh and lets not forget a good number of GCG. Local birders informed us the Slavonian and Red-necked Grebe had not been seen all morning but a suspected Red-throated Pipit had turned up.
