Garden Annual Tick

Very early this morning when I was forced by nature to jettison some recycled beer, I turned the bathroom light on and triggered off a most welcome loud noise. A Tawny Owl was perched in one of the nearest trees at the back of the yard and sounded off for a good two minutes.
This is a trend thats been going on in January and February for the 10 years I've lived here.

I got a Black-billed Blackbird in the yard a couple days back and about 15 mins ago it was singing. I used to think like many others the black bill indicated a Scandinavian migrant. However when searching the 'net there is an opinion formed by numerous birders that they are probably first winter indigenous males.
