I decided to do the bottom bogs and sludge of Soil Hell this morning. At 1010 hrs I was walking along the ditch that drains the N slope hoping for something juicy. A wader flushed from the ditch, flying low until it reached the first slope then rose and headed W. A winter Dunlin and a much appreciated local annual tick.
Other than that it was quiet, 3 Mallard, 2 each Skylark & Meadow Pipit, c35 small gulls. I bumped into CK on the way back and after a brief chat, left him looking for the Little Owl, hope he had better luck than me.
Also top of N slope 3 Roe Deer.
On passing the Raggalds on the return leg, unlike the outward trip, it was full of Lapwing. There must have been c220 birds in the field between Roper and Green Lane. They were very flighty and after doing 3/4 sweeps of Perseverance Rd bottom, they all flew of E in direction of Thornton.
